The Meantime

They say you never know what you’re going to get,

I’m willing to bet, that much can be figured.

We are the product of that which has lived.

Survival of the fittest.

Same beginning and same end.

What appears to be the difference…

Is the meantime.

The space in which we haven’t gotten there yet.

When we’re still figuring it out.

When we’re in the middle of our test.

Before the answers come about.

The time when the stress is at its best

And maybe you are not.

When anything less, creates it’s own consequence and chaos.

Living through the gains and the losses.

The pains of our choices

The goals that have been hoisted and tossed.

What remains is the change from the cost.

We paid without even a forethought.

Changed the path, took a new route.

Good or bad, to the same deathstination.

How do we give each day our concentration when yesterday keeps chasing and the future is always competing with the now?

The meantime…

When you gotta do what you gotta do

Whatever that is when you do it.

When you’re questioning the truths that you were conditioned to believe in

Finding that the blessings come often from the lessons we keep dismissing

For everything, there’s a reason.

Even when it hurts.

The meantime…

Its not always for pleasure

But, for putting in the work.

For exhausting every measure

Every second has a worth

The meantime

Bittersweet time

So befitting of a term.
